To friends of children all over the world

"There is no way to peace, peace is the way" (Mahatma Ghandi)
International Janusz Korczak Association (representing 23 countries) and the International Chapter of the Order of the Smile (Order Uśmiechu) (representing the 29 countries of the world) strongly condemn any form of violence, aggression and war. War is always a violation of human rights, including the right of the child.
Russia's military attack on Ukraine is an inhumane act and a crime against humanity. Its defenseless victims are the weakest – the children and women. The Russian aggressor forced Ukrainian children to fight for survival under the bombs, or in the most optimistic scenario, for the fate of a small, displaced wanderer. This atrocious practice takes place before our very own eyes - 80 years after the German Nazis murdered the children of Our Home and their guardian, Janusz Korczak with his associates. The despicable criminal, Adolf Hitler, launched a war mechanism that killed millions of children. Even in these difficult conditions in the Warsaw ghetto, Janusz Korczak, condemned bad people and criminal systems, believed in human good and the sense of joint action. "You cannot leave this world as it is," he argued.
As a group of people cultivating Janusz Korczak's messages towards the world, in the name of Korczak's universal values, we condemn the criminal warfare of the ruthless aggressor, Russian President Vladimir Putin, especially against children and women. We protest against war, which is mindless, devastating and threatening the whole world. From different parts of the world, from different countries and continents, we call with Janusz Korczak, for the rights of Ukrainian children to life, family, health, education and the future in their own independent homeland. We also extend our words of support to war-stricken noble activists of the Ukrainian Janusz Korczak Association and the Ukrainian Knights of the Order of the Smile.
We invite all Korczakians, the Friends of Korczak, the members and the Knights of the Order of the Smile, scattered around the world to assist those in need in Ukraine. Appreciating all the efforts made so far by people of good will, we hope that the support for the victims of the war becomes ongoing and systemic.
As hundreds and thousands find shelter in Poland, millions remain under siege and the sustainability of aid is of much importance, so we urge you to dig dip into your hearts and to your pockets.
For this purpose, we indicate the accounts of a reputable charity organization we cooperate with - Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), whose President is Janina Ochojska (Knight of the Order of the Smile, European Union MP):
